The Mac Air Book comes with a beautiful 13.3 inch screen with all necessaties built in. All the usefull ports and pins available at this thin range. A usb 2.0 port, headphone jack, micro Dvi-port and VGA/ S-video output.
It also comes with an iSight camera and an iChat software which make video conferencing a joy to behold. The battery although very slim does not make you feel weak. It goes on for a neat 5 hour period which is better than most heavy laptops available.

After spending some time in the beta tank, the Opera browser team has released Opera 9.6. The latest version of the Opera web browser adds a few new features, not all of which are related to the web. For instance, Opera has a built in email client. Opera 9.6 has a new low bandwidth mode that prevents attachments from being automatically downloaded if you have an IMAP account. For POP users, just the first 100 lines of a message are available unless you click on the message.
Opera 9.6 also has a new RSS feed preview feature that lets you see the contents of an RSS freed before you subscribe. In fact, the newspaper-style layout of the feed preview is so nifty that you might find yourself bookmarking RSS feeds to read in your web browser instead of the original web pages.
There are also a bunch of bug fixes and stability and performance improvements. Users can also synchronize their custom searches and typed history with Opera Link.
Nokia 5800
The crimson-coloured baroque interior of the Koko Club, a night club in London’s Camden Town and a popular variety theatre even 100 years ago, proved a somewhat bizarre locale for the launch of an Internet Age initiative. Analysts in the cramped and dark seating area were jabbing reports into their laptop keys to predict that the Nokia move might well change, for ever, the business model of paid popular music.
Touch-sensitive phone
The new handset launched — then 5800 XPress Music — is Nokia’s first touch-sensitive phone. It comes after rivals such as LG, Samsung and Apple with its new iPhone entered the field.
But the more sedate pace of this Scandinavian player has also ensured that it sized up the competition and added its own features: like full Web browsing including Flash content; a touch technology that is truly ‘haptic’ - that means the keys seem to kick back at your fingers — a GPS receiver and a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. The 8 GB internal memory can be beefed up with another 16 GB on a micro SD type memory card - which means one can store over 18,000 songs if one were a hard core music freak.
New service
For such buyers, the biggest plus point for forking out Euro 279 ($390) for the 5800 (this is the price before any service provider subsidies) lies in Nokia’s new “Comes With Music” service: Buying this handset or new units of the 5310 XPress Music phone or the N95 smart phone, means one can access a music repertoire running into millions from publishers such as Universal, Sony BMG, Warners or EMI — as well as local music companies in every geography, for one year after purchase.
You can keep all you download for free, during this period, thereafter. The Senior Vice-President (Entertainment and Communities Business), Mr Tero Ojanpera, added that there was no restriction as regards to the format: users could use the ‘Nokia Music For PC’ software to re-format tracks to any standard and also ‘rip’ CDs directly into their phones.
Music publishers plagued by piracy might decide that rather than spend time and money trying to stop the unstoppable, they were better off being paid in bulk by large handset makers such as Nokia — leaving music essentially free for the end-user (provided he/she bought a particular handset).
The 5800 would be launched in India towards the end of 2008 at a price around Rs 20,000

The surprise of the album.A gana number in a gautam film and that too from Harris!.KArthik has rendered his voice for this song and he has song quite well.The song is slow and well paced that distinguishes it from some ear jarring ghanas.Harris has tried to set his foot in B and C centres as well.This song too depends on its picturisation to know its end result.

This is a carnatic song sung by Sudha raghunathan who has just mastered this song with ease.Harris has switched from Bombay Jayashree to sudha for a change and this combo too looks good and the future looks rosy.The soft and smooth flowing voice and music flow is nice to hear and it is at its best when heard before sleep or in calm and relaxed atmosphere.Hats off to harris and sudha raghunathan!

This song is a fast version of Oh shanthi shanthi phrase with altered lyrics sung by SPB Charan and Clinton.Mixed with fast guitar beats and well paced voice of Charan this song sounds good.But I doubt if it wil be included as a separate song in the movie.This mayb just for the audio version.Good to hear though not great.

Overall,the music offers a variety that can be enjoyed with pleasure by all.A most different album by harris in recent times where he has given chartbusters mainly through his melodies.Though the songs makes us remind us of his own old tunes it is not a big deal as still that feel good factor makes us feel good and not irritating.With this kind of songs if the story and picturisation are done good,the film is sure gonna be a biggest blockbuster.W e congratulate harris for this painstaking effort and we wish gautham and harris work together continuously and give many different albums like this or even better than this.

Saroja-MovieReview+verdict
Saroja is the next project from the young guys who smelled a decent success with the film Chennai-600028 and got phenomenally popular with that offbeat film that was set against a street cricket life in Chennai with atmost reality.This time after basking in such success and fame due to Chennai-600028 young director Venkat Prabhu has tried out another different film SAROJA with nearly the same crew.I should say this has worked out even better than Chennai-600028.Let me review this film in detail and atlast give you the verdict of the film.
The film starts off with a oil tanker travelling along Orrissa-Hyderabad highway(Is it relevant to the story???Yes indeed it is!!).Then it shifts off to a family of a successful and a big business magnet Prakash raj whose daughter is saroja(Vega).The next frame the story shifts to a group of 4 friends(S P B Charan,Shiva,Premji Amaran and Vaibhav) who lead a happy-go-lucky life.Actually the film is based on the events that happen in a gap of 2 days (day before yesterday,today ) and so the script seems to move fast.
The group of 4 friends plan to watch a cricket match between india and Pakistan at Hyderabad.They start to Hyderabad in a van and this is where the actual story starts.The oil tanker we said earlier collapses on the highway leading to Hyderabad and hence creating a traffic blockade. Meanwhile saroja gets kidnapped by a gang headed by Sampath.demanding prakash raj for a huge ransom. These 4 guys travelling in the van also get caught in this jam and decide to go through another route which none are sure of.This then leads to a sequence of unexpected events highly coated with high voltage thrill.
The guys after going through a lot of twists and turns reach the kidnapper’s place and find saroja there unintentionally and help her escape from that place.The chase then begins.The baddies chasing the heroes….But what is different here is the execution of those events.The chase is shown pretty different from other movies.Finally a twist unfolds at the climax in the form of Jayaram which we don’t leak out to preserve the thrill for the viewers.
Other Aspects:
The camera man Sakthi Chidambaram has done a mind blowing job recording all those scenes in dark light.His camera angles bring thrill to our eyes in reality.
Yuvan’s music has worked quite well but not that good compared to Chennai-600028 if I was asked.But the songs are definitely not bad.Almost all the songs leads us to think where had we heard this before.The pick of the album is undoubtedly “Kodana kodi” song picturised on nikitha who looks sexy and the steps used is sure to get craved for by the youth no doubt!.(This song reminds us of the song Sei edavadu sei from Billa!!!).Back ground music is not that much impressive.
Direcion by venkat Prabhu is extra ordinary and his screen play has weaved magic.Packaging on the whole is very nice.
My verdict:
The film has a very good comedy by premji amaran and shiva at thrilling and peak times which keeps you at stitches through out the film which makes this film a light weight entertainer.The story and screen play of the film is also fresh and new so it keeps us guessing at it most of the time which is to be welcomed.Summing it up the film has it all-comedy,thrill,chase,good songs ,excellent camera and taut screen play and natural performances from the cast making it a feast for movie goers of all categories.
So I would rate this film a 8 out of 10 and comment it:”Watch minimum once or twice”.

LHC - The Instrument Of The Millennium

The precise circumference of the LHC accelerator is 26 659 m, with a total of 9300 magnets inside. Not only is the LHC the world’s largest particle accelerator, just one-eighth of its cryogenic distribution system would qualify as the world’s largest fridge. All the magnets will be pre‑cooled to -193.2°C (80 K) using 10 080 tonnes of liquid nitrogen, before they are filled with nearly 60 tonnes of liquid helium to bring them down to -271.3°C (1.9 K).
The fastest racetrack on the planet...
At full power, trillions of protons will race around the LHC accelerator ring 11 245 times a second, traveling at 99.99% the speed of light. Two beams of protons will each travel at a maximum energy of 7 TeV (tera-electronvolt), corresponding to head-to-head collisions of 14 TeV. Altogether some 600 million collisions will take place every second.
The hottest spots in the galaxy, but even colder than outer space...
The LHC is a machine of extreme hot and cold. When two beams of protons collide, they will generate temperatures more than 100 000 times hotter than the heart of the Sun, concentrated within a minuscule space. By contrast, the 'cryogenic distribution system', which circulates super fluid helium around the accelerator ring, keeps the LHC at a super cool temperature of -271.3°C (1.9 K) – even colder than outer space!
The most powerful supercomputer system in the world...
The data recorded by each of the big experiments at the LHC will fill around 100 000 dual layer DVDs every year. To allow the thousands of scientists scattered around the globe to collaborate on the analysis over the next 15 years (the estimated lifetime of the LHC), tens of thousands of computers located around the world are being harnessed in a distributed computing network called the Grid.
Duo - The new wireless electronic input pen
IFA 2008 is certainly an event to participate if you’re in Europe with a penchant for the latest and greatest in consumer electronics. Penandfree has taken that opportunity to release a new next-generation wireless electronic input pen known as ‘Duo’, enabling users to write both letters and figure on a display of a non-tablet monitor (up to 22″ in size). Penandfree claims that their solution is 10 times more cheaper(affordable) than a standard tablet monitor, so it will be interesting to see which organizations will pick up such technology when it is available in Korea at the end of this month.

Michael Phelps!!!What a phenomenal feat he has achieved!!Participated in eight events in this Olympics edition won gold in all of them 7 of them being new world records and the rest 1 nevertheless least is an olmypics record.This is such a rare feat that one can just imagine and dream sitting in his car!.But this young american has shown that there is nothing like a dream and everything can be turned into reality.With 8 medals in his precious kitty,sure he has ascended to the top of the world.
"This is a dream come true for me," the swimmer said. He not only accomplished his goal of breaking the seven-gold mark of his countryman Mark Spitz in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, but also went well beyond that. "I want to be the first Michael Phelps, not the second Mark Spitz," he added.
In Beijing, Phelps swam 17 races, totaling an unmatched length of 3,200 meters in the water. He swept the golds in his favourite events, overpowered competitors in his weak races and still managed to win when his goggle malfunctioned.
Michael Phelps previously in Athens Olympics had won 6 golds(and aslo two bronzes).Now adding to that he has won 14 golds in Olympics so far.This makes him the greatest Olympian of all time and his feat now looks almost tough if not impossible to emulate for years to come.
Growing up in high school, Phelps wasn't hanging out with friends every day or on the weekends. Doing normal high school kid things was something he was never willing to give up. But one piece of information that would make everybody struck in surprise is that in his school grade his mom Debora Phelps was told by one of his teachers that phelps is very much hyperactive and he is totally immature and that he can never really focus on anything in future!!But now he has focused on a greatest world record perhaps and he has achieved it with all his might and focus.

In Beijing, Phelps swam 17 races, totaling an unmatched length of 3,200 meters in the water. He swept the golds in his favourite events, overpowered competitors in his weak races and still managed to win when his goggle malfunctioned.
Michael Phelps previously in Athens Olympics had won 6 golds(and aslo two bronzes).Now adding to that he has won 14 golds in Olympics so far.This makes him the greatest Olympian of all time and his feat now looks almost tough if not impossible to emulate for years to come.
Growing up in high school, Phelps wasn't hanging out with friends every day or on the weekends. Doing normal high school kid things was something he was never willing to give up. But one piece of information that would make everybody struck in surprise is that in his school grade his mom Debora Phelps was told by one of his teachers that phelps is very much hyperactive and he is totally immature and that he can never really focus on anything in future!!But now he has focused on a greatest world record perhaps and he has achieved it with all his might and focus.

Abhinav Bindra has now undoubtedly become the latest sensation of India. He has now become the first Indian to win a gold at the Olympics after a 28 long years and he has certainly made every Indian proud of his extraordinary feat.He claimed the 10m Air Rifle Shooting title held in Beijing today.This marks the first medal count for India in the current edition of Olympics.
Bindra,25 after some hard n thrilling moments in the shooting finals in the Olympics just got past Athens Games champion Zhu Qinan of China and Henri Hakkinen of Finland by a narrow margin. Bindra finished with a combined tally of 700.5
followed by Zhu with 699.7 points and Hakkinen with 699.4 points.Bindra finished off with 104.5 in the 10 shot final as he sailed through the final round sharing same points with Hakkinen with 689.7 points.In the deciding shot bindra held his nerves and scored a much fair 10.8 points while others managed only 10.5 and 9.8 points.That moment is to be marked in golden words in the Indian history of sports.At the same time he became the first Indian individual to win an Olympic gold.The last time India won gold in Olympics was in 1980 in Hockey.

He has brought laurels for the whole Sikh community and for the whole nation,".

Materials that bend and conduct electricty
We have so far come across many materials that conducts electricity having fixed dimensions in our day to-day life.These materials are pretty useful in many fields but still there are some fields that requires conductors that are flexible such as in ROBOTICS.Scientists were desperate in finding that kind of material that would be both flexible and conduct electricity and now a pathbreaking discovery has been made by a Japanese team of scientists.They now claim that they have found a rubbery material that bends and stretches and at the same time conduct electricity.No doubt,this could be considered as a sweet surprise in the field of electronics.
The material, described by Tsuyoshi Sekitani of the University of Tokyo in the journal Science, could be used on curved surfaces or even in moving parts, they said.
Sekitani's team developed their material using carbon nanotubes, a long stretch of carbon molecules that can conduct electricity. Actually Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are allotropes of carbon with a nanostructure that can have a length-to-diameter ratio greater than 1,000,000. These cylindrical carbon molecules have novel properties that make them potentially useful in many applications in nanotechnology,electronics,optics and other fields of materials science. They exhibit extraordinary strength and unique electrical properties, and are efficient conductors of heat.
The team mixed these into rubbery polymer to form the basic material. Next, they attached a grid of tiny transistors to the material and then put it to the test.They stretched the sheet of material to nearly double its original size and it snapped back into place, without disrupting the transistors or ruining the material's conductive properties.
The elastic conductor would allow electronic circuits to be mounted in places that would have been impossible up to now, including "arbitrary curved surfaces and movable parts, such as the joints of a robot's arm," Sekitani and colleagues wrote.
Earlier this week, a U.S. team reported developing an elastic mesh material that allowed them to use standard electronics materials to build an electronic eye camera based on the shape and layout of the human eye. John Rogers of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, who wrote about the eye camera in the journal Nature, said the development of materials that can be shaped and molded to curved surfaces will allow for a whole new class of electronics devices that can be used to better interact with the human body, such as brain monitoring devices.
And now with this new discovery we can be sure enough that the field of bio-medical engineering may benefit by making it easier to design new devices with better interaction with our body.

The Unidentified Flying Objects - UFO
Here is another interesting topic that people would love to discuss about – The UFO. UFO is an abbreviation of Unidentified Flying . There is a misconception that UFOs are alein space ship(space ships coming from other planets) but UFOs are simply objects found in the sky which could not be identified. For the past 75 yrs millions of evidences of UFO have been recorded but most of them had no proper explanation of the flying object. Some of the UFOs were later identified as weather ballons or private aircrates. But the most of them could not be explained what so ever and hence the only possibility that people could think of is the alien space ships.
Thousands of UFO evidences comes up every year, from every other country. Some of them with proofs like photographs and videos. Some of the UFO viewers say that they have seen aliens inside the space ship. But the interesting fact I found quite recently was that there was tales of alien abduction??? Tales such as Aliens abducting people and carring out tests. I don’t know how much this can be true. But so far there has been no proof of the aliens on earth. A leading Dutch hypnotherapist ,Hilda Musch, had hypnotized various victims who have been abducted (or they say so) and later found that the stories of most of them were alike. The reports of the Dutch victims also seemed to be identical in every respect to such reports taken in the United States. These people could not have possibly met or shared the story of the Alien Abduction as this report was carried out secretly.
In this computer era you cannot expect anyone to believe a photograph or a video proof. A photoshop is all you need to create a photo proof of a UFO. But there is a possibility that some of them can be true. Some of the photos were taken in 1950s when there was no photoshop to create the fakes.

India Vs Srilanka 2nd test at Galle-Post Match analysis
One down in the first match of the idea cup series!That too a landsliding defeat against the mighty Srilankan lions..Their batsmen roared at the beginning and their spinners spoiled the Indian plans in the second half.Though almost a whole day was lost due to rain the match saw a clear result well within the 4th day..India lost by an inning and 200 odd runs...An embarassing moment indeed for the Men in blue..The most experienced trio of the indian batting too had failed miserably and bowling too was not well respected..This is the stage set for the second test match..Venue,Galle a reconstructed stadium after the tsunami..Will Indians regain their pride or bow down to the lankans again??The stage was set.Indains won the toss and kumble opted to bat first.
The same team was picked that played in the first match.Sehwag and gambhir opened the batting.Both the batsmen gave some gusty blows to the Srilankan bowlers who were really clueless on what was happening.Then finally a breakthrough came in the form of gambhir's wicket.The indian middle order too didnt last long and again the trio failed to make any impression.The spin wizard Ajantha Mendis broke the indian mountain easily but even though wickets tumbled regularly sehwag on the other side batted quite sensationally like a blitzkreig..He piled up a massive 201 runs and eventually india was dismissed for 329.
Srilanka came in to bat.The team that had managed to pile up a mammoth 600 in the first test.Will it live the same life this match too?They opened with the same pair and like the previous test Vandort was sent back to pavillion early.then sanga and warnapura lifted the lankan innings.Both made spirited fifties.Then both didnt stand much soon after that and they were dismissed quite soon.Then the collapse started.Bhajji's magic spin worked out this time for india.Their middle order was never able to sustain the indian spin bowling.Only mahela jayawardene gave some respite to their batting.None other than him really sparked off..They were dismissed for 292.India took a handy 37 run lead.
India came into bat in the second inning.They had a successful opening partnership again this time too until sehwag was dismissed thanks to a good catch by dilshan for a 50.The team score was 90 that time.Rahul dravid who was under some serious pressure to score runs came to the field.This time he looked a lot more fluent and confident and his strokes essayed his class and potential.Gambhir however continued the same form and was agian out after he had made a good start.he made 74 this time.Dravid went on to make 44 when he was given out lbw to a ball that was clearly pitchd outside the stumps even though it was asked for a review.(Review system needs a review here!!!)Then sachin tendulkar too was seen to be in a good touch.But soon after he too was dismissed from a wonderful delivery by vaas after being beaten by vaas continuously.Then indian wickets fell at regular intervals and india made 269.The target was 307.If it was chased down it would be the highest run chase in that ground.
Now srilankans came in hoping not to repeat the previous innings errors.But the opening had a huge shock in store for them..Ishant sharma was bowling a fiery spell along with zaheer and the first 3 wickets including that of sanga and mahela fell for just 10 runs.The thilan samera weera provided some sort of respite along with dilshan.They added some 76 runs for the 5th wicket.There were nothing more in their inning.The next wickets fell like pins and they were dismisssed for a paltry 136.Bhajji again was the star with 4 wickets and ishant too produced an extra ordinary spell and claimed 3 wickets.India won by an 170 runs!!The team that was given a humiliating defeat in the first match bouced back quite extra ordinarily with both batting and bowling fields and india worked as a team.
The youngsters are really firing big guns and if they play with such consistency and intensity,sure india is going to be unbeatable soon.Lets hope for that to happen and we wish India a good luck for the deciding final test match and for their matches in the future.

Saturn a planet which is uniquely identifiable from the other set of planets in our solar system now seems to have been associated with another uniqueness.Titan,one of the saturn’s moons is now been found to contain atleast one of many liquid lake-like features!!!Cassini-Huygens,a joint NASA/ESA/ASI robotic space craft mission to study Saturn and its moons has finally come up with this breakthrough discovery.
Cassini was launched on October 15,1997 and entered into orbit around Saturn on July 1,2004.Huygens probe got seperated from the orbiter and reached Titan on January 14,2005 and has been relaying information about it. Cassini has made more than 40 close flybys of Titan.Now scientists claim the presence of “Ethane” in those lake like structures.As we may all know,liquid ethane is a component of crude oil.
"This is the first observation that really pins down that Titan has a surface lake filled with liquid," Bob Brown, team leader of Cassini's visual and mapping instrument,has said in a statement. An instrument aboard the Cassini orbiter, called the visual and infrared mapping spectrometer, or VIMS, confirmed the presence of the lake called Ontario Lacus when the craft detected ethane.(shown in pic above;the blue colours are believed to be liquid hrdro carbons)
"Detection of liquid ethane in Ontario Lacus confirms a long-held idea that lakes and seas filled with methane and ethane exist on Titan," said Larry Soderblom, a study co-author from the U.S. Geological Survey in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Like water dominates climate cycles on Earth, weather on Titan(where surface temperatures can be -300 degrees Fahrenheit which is about -200 degrees Celsius)revolves around thick, dark hydrocarbons. Methane and ethane fill the air with a dirty haze that rains down as ash, and rivers run with a gasoline-like liquid.
Previous observations of the lake with the Cassini radar imager, as far back as 2005, were unable to fully distinguish the lake's liquid hydrocarbons from the atmosphere's thick hydrocarbon haze. But Cassini's VIMS camera uses spectroscopy—a technique that identifies the chemical composition of objects by the way they reflect light.
This discovery implies that titan is the only other body in the solar system to contain a fluid besides our own planet earth.

Things the 3G iPhone is Still Missing
1. Multimedia messaging - Almost every other cell phone in the market has the ability to send images to other cell phones via multimedia messaging, or MMS. Yes you can still e-mail those photos, but MMS is such a basic feature that it should've been in the iPhone from the start.
2. Copy and paste - Again, this is such a basic feature. Having copy and paste makes it easier to type out text messages and e-mails.
3. Video recording - In the world of mobile video, Qik, and YouTube, it's a shame the iPhone doesn't have video-recording capabilities. Yes the quality wouldn't be that great, but it should be an option anyway.
4. Voice command - For a touch-screen phone, we think voice command and voice dialing would've been a great feature add-on for the iPhone. Perhaps this will be added via a third-party app, but we would really prefer this to be a native setting.
5. Bluetooth flexibility - Right now, all you can use Bluetooth on the iPhone for are headset voice calls, and that's it. This is sufficient for most people, sure, but we would like for Apple and AT&T to open up the Bluetooth profiles for the iPhone. This means we would like stereo Bluetooth and A2DP for streaming music wirelessly, Bluetooth tethering so we can use the iPhone as a modem, and finally we would like to have Bluetooth file-transfer protocol so we can transfer files to and from the iPhone.
6. Horizontal keyboard for e-mail and notes -Another annoyance for writers--and a confusing omission, given the capability of the iPhone's on-screen keyboard to flip horizontally for some applications but not for others--is the fact that the touch-screen keyboard doesn't rotate to a landscape orientation when using the Notes, e-mail, or Maps applications. Those also happen to be the three most writing-intensive apps on the iPhone, which makes the necessary one-finger hunting and pecking required by the portrait-mode keyboard all the more annoying if you use those features a lot.Over time, using your thumbs to type versus holding the phone in one hand and poking at the keys with one finger is a lot more significant than you might think.

Improved predictive text (or the ability to turn it off) - The iPhone's predictive text feature (where the phone "guesses" what you're going to write after you enter a few characters--to eliminate typos) does a decent job of streamlining typing. However, it has only an "opt-out" feature, which requires hitting a very small "x" to deselect the word it suggests. This is where that feature fails. The time it saves in correcting miscues sometimes pales in comparison to the frustration it causes in forcing you to repeatedly deselect words. And there's no way to turn it off or create a keyboard-based shortcut to deselect the predicted word.
8. Flash support - Sadly, no one really knows when being able to view Flash animations or films will be a reality on the iPhone. This big wish-list item for the second-gen version is still missing from the 3G handset. Even though YouTube clips are in Flash format on the Web, they've been converted to QuickTime format specifically for the iPhone-centric version of YouTube. The lack of Flash support means Safari fumbles when it comes to YouTube clips embedded in blog posts or other pages; those just show up as broken plugin icons, with no option to launch the clips in the iPhone's separate YouTube application.

Liquid-crystal displays (LCD), in the past restricted to notebooks, are now a reality for desktops. The three greatest advantages of this type of video monitor compared to traditional tube-based monitors (a.k.a. CRT, Cathode Ray Tube) are the use of less space on the desk (especially 17" models or bigger), less power consumption and 100% flicker-free, even with a refresh rate of only 60 frames per second (60 Hz). In this tutorial we will explain everything you need to know to make the right choice when buying a new LCD monitor.
The most important thing you need to know about LCD technology is that LCD panels have a fixed resolution. This resolution is called “native resolution”, “maximum resolution” or simply “resolution” and you must configure your desktop to that resolution, otherwise three things can happen, depending on the model of your monitor:
1. The image won’t be “sharp”; it will be blurred. You will see lots of squared areas, without any definition.
2. The monitor will centralize the image in the new resolution, reducing the image size and inserting a black frame around the image. For instance, if your LCD native resolution is 1280x960 and you decreased it to 800x600, this means there are 480 pixels left horizontally (1280 - 800) and 360 pixels left vertically (960 - 600). The image will be centralized and there will be 240 black pixels above and below the image and 180 blank pixels on the sides of the image.
3. The monitor will try to stretch the image in order to not show the black area around of the image, filling the whole screen. This is done thru a technique called interpolation, which isn’t 100% perfect and thus you will feel that the image has better quality (definition) when the screen is configured at its native resolution, even though the elements on the screen (e.g. icons, letters, etc) will be smaller. In general you will feel that the image is slightly out of focus (blurred) when the monitor is not configured in its native resolution.
