Saroja-MovieReview+verdict

 

Saroja is the next project from the young  guys who smelled a  decent success with the film Chennai-600028 and  got phenomenally popular with that offbeat film that was set against a street cricket life in Chennai with atmost reality.This time after basking in such success and fame due to Chennai-600028 young director Venkat Prabhu has tried out another different film SAROJA with nearly the same crew.I should say this has worked out even better than Chennai-600028.Let me review this film in detail and atlast give you the verdict of the film.

The film starts off with a oil tanker travelling along Orrissa-Hyderabad highway(Is it relevant to the story???Yes indeed it is!!).Then it shifts off to a family of a successful and a big business magnet Prakash raj whose daughter is saroja(Vega).The next frame the story shifts to a group of 4 friends(S P B Charan,Shiva,Premji Amaran and Vaibhav) who lead a happy-go-lucky life.Actually the film is based on the events that happen in a gap of 2 days (day before yesterday,today ) and so the script seems to move fast.

The  group of 4 friends plan to watch a cricket match between india  and Pakistan at Hyderabad.They start to Hyderabad in a van and this is where the actual story starts.The oil tanker we said earlier collapses on the highway leading to Hyderabad and hence creating a traffic blockade. Meanwhile saroja gets kidnapped by a gang headed by Sampath.demanding prakash raj for a huge ransom. These 4 guys travelling in the van also get caught in this jam and decide to go through another route which none are sure of.This then leads to a sequence of unexpected events highly coated with high voltage thrill.

The guys after going through a lot of twists and turns reach the kidnapper’s place and find saroja there unintentionally and help her escape from that place.The chase then begins.The baddies chasing the heroes….But what is different here is the execution of those events.The chase is shown pretty different from other movies.Finally a twist unfolds at the climax in the form of Jayaram which we don’t leak out to preserve the thrill for the viewers.

Other Aspects:

The camera man Sakthi Chidambaram has done a mind blowing job recording all those scenes in dark light.His camera angles bring thrill to our eyes in reality.

Yuvan’s music has worked quite well but not that good compared to Chennai-600028 if I was asked.But the songs are definitely not bad.Almost all the songs leads us to think where had we heard this before.The pick of the album is undoubtedly “Kodana kodi” song picturised on nikitha who looks sexy and the steps used is sure to get craved for by the youth no doubt!.(This song reminds us of the song Sei edavadu sei from Billa!!!).Back ground music  is not that much impressive.

Direcion by venkat Prabhu is extra ordinary and his screen play has weaved magic.Packaging on the whole is very nice.

 

My verdict:

The film has a very good comedy by premji amaran and shiva at thrilling and peak times which keeps you at stitches through out the film which makes this film a light weight entertainer.The story and screen play of the film is also fresh and new so it keeps us guessing at it most of the time which is to be welcomed.Summing it up the film has it all-comedy,thrill,chase,good songs ,excellent camera and taut screen play and natural performances from the cast making it a feast for movie goers of all categories.

So I would rate this film a 8 out of 10 and comment it:”Watch minimum once or twice”.
